And so we dance...

Posture

I spread Like two crescent moons stretching into corners as Stephanie told me one moon in my collarbone one in my hips and i somehow feel streamlined moving through the air open to what the world has to offer even this world of tile floors and 'professional' behavior gliding electric doors And Franklin planners I am smiling and the world is what it is.

Ecstasyzing:

You, the student, are in charge of the movements you do. There is no outward form to be achieved - the practice is inward. Ecstasyzing is meditation through movement.

Class Outline:

The length of each Ecstasyzing class is broken into several activities, each about 20 minutes long. Each activity is begun by a change in music and simple short instructions. Then there is no speaking and for the remaining time each student is on their own to follow the instructions as they feel works for them.

Class Activities:

gentle flowing yoga ...self-directed movement ...self-focused movement with eyes closed ...resting ... integrative resting ...witness movement ...follow-the-leader...ecstatic dance ...group circle dance ... hand dance ...partner movement ...walking meditation...developmental movement ...body awareness exercises ... focus development exercises...strength and flexibility development ...range of motion ...spiritual belly dance ... toning...journaling and journal reading aloud...chanting ...whirling ...body awareness exercises.

When you come to class:

wear comfortable clothing as you would for a yoga or floor exercise class ...bring a blanket to stay warm while resting ...bring a journal and pen or use materials that are available ...a yoga mat can be comfortable for floor work ...an attitude of self-exploration and openness to personal growth is a great asset.

Who can do this?

Anyone. There is no dance or yoga experience required, needed, or expected. This is a healing activity. People with disabilities, injuries, and/or physical limitations will benefit. Those recovering from trauma, life events or addictions will find release. Dancers and movement practitioners will also find growth in this process.

Limitations:

Due to liability issues, class attendance is limited to those over the age of 16.

In conclusion...

Ecstasyzing will help anyone who practices it. Writers, dancers, musicians, yoga teachers, belly dancers, massage therapists, actors and others who bring physical awareness or desire better access to internal inspiration for their practice will benefit. If you find yourself moving your body while listening to music you may be well suited to movement meditation.
